Over the course of two years, the game's file size shot up to 90GB. When Fortnite released back in 2018, it was just 18GB. However, Activision has acknowledged the increasing file size and has promised players that it will be fixing the massive Modern Warfare file size very soon. Recently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone crossed 250GB in size, raising concerns among PC gamers. In a time when video game sizes are growing larger and larger in size, it's quite good to see that Epic has done something about Fortnite's concerning file size. A tweet shared by Fortnite Status states that the update is meant "to make optimizations on PC resulting in a massively reduced Fortnite file size (over 60 GB smaller), smaller downloads for future patches, and improved loading performance." The update itself is quite big in size, approximately 27GB, but Epic has stated that the update is aimed at cleaning up the game's installation and making it more compact. Before the update, the game took up about 100GB of disk space, and players were wondering whether the file size would continue to balloon or not.įortunately, with the new update, the game's installation size has gone down to a mere 30GB. Fortnite received a new update today that has massively reduced the game's installation size on PC.
